Job Description:

Allegria Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Port Jefferson is a long-term care and skilled nursing facility committed to delivering exceptional care to our residents. We pride ourselves on our team-focused environment, where every CNA plays a key role in improving the quality of life for those we serve. We are currently seeking Per Diem Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) to join our care team in providing compassionate care and assistance to our residents

The CNA will be responsible for various duties, such as performing basic nursing tasks, assisting in personal hygiene and grooming, administering medications as ordered by the physician, and measuring vital signs. The CNA will also be required to maintain all medical records in accordance with facility procedures and state laws.

AS A PER DIEM EMPLOYEE, YOU WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR BENEFITS. YOU MUST WORK 1 SHIFT A WEEK, NOTHING MORE. IN TOTAL, THIS WILL BE 4-5 SHIFTS (Depending on the number of weeks each month) ON A MONTHLY BASIS.

Responsibilities:

• Assist patient(s) with daily activities, such as feeding, dressing, bathing, etc.
• Administer medication and monitor patient reactions per physician's order
• Measure vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rate
• Provide emotional support to patient(s) and their families
• Observe and report any changes in patients’ physical or mental conditions
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the patient's environment
• Follow care plan meeting patient's physiological and psychosocial conditions
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, providing insights on residents’ conditions

Requirements/Qualifications:

• Active CNA license in New York State (Required)
• Prior experience in a nursing home or long-term care setting preferred
• Dependable, punctual, and professional
• Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to handle a demanding work environment, with changing priorities
• Ability to lift, push, pull, or move residents
